The Must-Visit Yacht Charter Destinations For Summer 2021

Where do you want to go this summer? Many of us are craving adventure after being locked down for so long, while others may be in need of some serious rest and relaxation. Whichever type of holiday you crave, we recommend heading to the East Mediterranean, where three of our favourite yacht charter destinations are already allowing those with an approved COVID-19 vaccine or advanced PCR testing to visit without quarantining.

Those looking to holiday onboard fractional ownership yachts or vessel charters this summer may well be tempted by the cobalt blue waters of Croatia, the scattered islands of Greece, or the exoticism of Turkey. Read on to be inspired…

Stunning yacht charter destinations to explore in 2021

Croatia

For a blissful holiday beneath a sun that never seems to stop shining, with highs of 30°C in July and August and a delightfully warm sea temperature of 25°C, Croatia is hard to beat. If your dream holiday is lounging on golden sands, cocktail in hand, then Croatia's island-speckled coastline offers endless beaches to explore and gin-clear waters to cool off in. However, this country has so much more to offer, from its rich history that sees everything from Venetian villas to Roman ruins treasured by locals to the Dinaric mountain range running along the coast, promising plenty of activities including hiking and rock climbing amongst its rugged peaks and idyllic waterfalls and lakes.

Currently, guests on a summer yacht charter to Croatia must take a negative PCR test up to 48 hours before they arrive in the country, or show a certificate that states they have completed their COVID vaccination at least two weeks before.

Greece

Greece is where western civilisation as we know it began, so expect living history at every turn, from ancient amphitheatres and UNESCO temples to festivals of modern art. However, those whose interests lie elsewhere will still find plenty to delight them - Greece is an iconic yacht charter destination thanks to its warm climate, with highs of 32 °C in the summer months and enough breeze to create the perfect conditions for water sports. Race Jet Skis, try your hand at kitesurfing, or paraglide above the waves to get your adrenaline pumping. Hop between different islands to see the best of Greece’s natural beauty, which varies from white sands and pine trees to verdant forests humming with life.

By May 14th, Greece hopes to fully re-open to tourists who have been vaccinated or can submit a negative COVID test up to 72 hours before arrival. However, bear in mind that only crewed yachts will be able to enter marinas on the mainland or those located in Rhodes, Heraklion and Corfu. To make your holiday as safe as possible, why not head to the Aegean archipelago, where no less than 69 islands should be fully vaccinated by May, minimising any risk.

Turkey

This magical county inspires thoughts of endless feasts, with delicacies including succulent stuffed vine leaves, perfectly seasoned koftas, Turkish-style pizzas known as pide, and of course flaky baklava oozing syrup. Spend happy afternoons indulging, while mornings can be enjoyed soaking up the 30°C heat on a striking black sand beach, hiking across hilly landscapes, visiting breathtaking lakes, and practicing self-care in a traditional hammam.

One of our favourite unexplored yacht charter destinations, most tourists are allowed to visit on the condition that they fill out a health declaration form and take a negative PCR test up to 72 hours before arriving in the country. As of 15 May 2021, a PCR test will not be requested from passengers arriving in Turkey from countries including Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. However, travellers returning from Turkey to the UK must quarantine in a managed hotel for 10 days upon arrival, taking 2 COVID-19 tests.
