Villefranche: undiscovered & très chic!

VILLEFRANCHE (-SUR-MER) is a charming small town between Beaulieu and Nice and a "tres chic" beach city, mostly undiscovered and with a sandy shore, small village and a very relaxed atmosphere. It’s a lovely escape from the bustle of bigger Cote d'Azur cities and a perfect choice for a one day trip. It has a wonderful harbour promenade where colourful houses, restaurants and the sea make you stay a little bit longer.

The beach in Villefranche is sandier, quieter and less packed with tourists than in its neighbourhood. It's also worth to visit one of the lovely markets in Villefranche: the Provençal market takes place on the Place du Marché on Saturday mornings, the antiques market on Avenue Albert I on Sundays. If you decide you quickly want to go to Nice to do shopping or have a coffee, you can always hop the train and be in Nice in five minutes.

Because of the calm and crystal-clear water, it's a perfect place to go with your yacht. The yacht harbor is lined with lots of restaurants and cafés with some even providing restaurant-to-yacht shuttle service! An insider tip is the „Plage de Passable“, a by in Villefranche just around the corner from the city, protected and well suitable for swimming and sun bathing, as well as the perfect spot for anchoring your yacht. Recommendable: There’s a path starting at the beach 4km long and you will pass the expensive houses of the rich and famous.
